Visual--One of the Little Things I Smile About
Reflective Endnote: "One of the Little Things I Smile About" -- Visual Drawing
This is a drawing that I created with pencil and watercolor paints focusing on the little things in life that can make you smile. In my drawing, I wanted to focus mainly on the eye in order to represent me as a person. Although the eye is merely one of many body parts, it is the one that can give insight into a person's unique qualities. I spent a significant amount of time drawing the eye in order to capture a personal essence and to show that even seemingly insignificant objects like starfish can capture the attention of an individual. I chose a starfish as an additional focus to the drawing to represent my personal interest in the study of ocean life. The starfish is the only object in the drawing that is colored, to show that a mere starfish can bring life and happiness to a person despite its undermined appearance. This genre connects to my thesis because it highlights my interest in marine biology. Although it is a subject that people usually do not think to pursue, I choose to keep interest in it to pursue my own personal life of happiness and simplicity.
